No More Painting

The novelty of painting has run out for Jeremy & I. It actually ran out a few months ago and we sat in this house with half painted walls in the family room. Not sure what happened, but the idea of painting just sort of fizzled out and we knew we had to do something about it. Of course, what option do you have when you don't feel like painting anymore?? Hire somebody to do it for us. And that is exactly what we have done and we couldn't be happier about the decision. Today our painters came out and completed all of the doors, trim, and baseboards. How they did all of that in just one day is beyond me, it would have taken Jeremy & I until 2010. I can't wait for the painting to be all done so the decorating can start. Now that is for sure something I will tackle.

Taylor's New Quad

A few weeks ago my dad bought Taylor another quad. The first one she got earlier this year she was already starting to outgrow. She needed something with a bit more power and leg room. Well, I think he got her one that is too perfect for her now. She is a pro on that little quad. Scares the CRAP out of mommy, but overall she has great control of the quad. And the best thing of all...she LOVES riding her quad.

Riding Season has Begun

Fall is here and quad riding season was kicked off with a weekend camping/riding trip. The weather was beautiful….warm during the day and cool at night. The weekend was relaxing, hung out in the desert watching the kids play with dirt and quads and did some knitting. Taylor finally got to give her new quad a test drive. Earlier this year my Pops bought her first quad. Well as luck would have it my little girl just kept growing this year and was now too small for her very first quad. So an upgrade was necessary. Taylor did an awesome job on her new quad. Cody wasn’t too thrilled with his new quad (Taylor’s old one) but he did have fun with the dirt and the fire.

And what camping trip would be complete without Kevin's (my friend Cristina's husband) famous rocket launches. Watching the rocket take off...Waiting for the rocket to come back down...

Checking My E-mail

Cody has this new fascination with my Blackberry that really shined through today when we were at the doctor's office picking up some medicine.
Taylor, Cody, and I were going to take our seats in the lobby while we waited for our name to appear on the board letting us know that our medicine was ready when out of nowhere Cody ask, loudly might I add "Mommy, Can I have the Blackberry, I need to check my e-mail".

A 3 year old with e-mail. I don't think so. But amazing to think how far technology has come.

My Adventures in Knitting

So finally, a reason why I have been so behind on my Blogging. I've taken up a new hobby and it has almost taken over my life. But that's ok, because it is fun and relaxing and gives me a great way to pass the time on the train. My new hobby, in case you didn't figure it out from the title of this post is knitting. My adventures in knitting began a few months ago when I was on the train and spotted my friend Mimi knitting a sweater for her little boy. That is all it took...I knew then and there I needed to learn to knit so I could make a sweater for Cody. It took me another month or so of convincing myself that indeed I could figure this stuff out and I must admit that I have come a long way from calling the knitting stuff sticks and thread (the correct term is needles and yarn) and not having the slightest idea what frogging is (when you have to rip something out because you totally messed it up) to being able to knit up 4 total hats so far and am working on my latest project, the sweater for Cody that kicked it all off. Here are some pictures of my completed projects....all hats. But I promise as soon as the sweater is done I'll put up some pics for your viewing pleasure. The most surprising thing about knitting is just how darn relaxing it is and how portable it is. I can take my knitting anywhere and just pull out the circulars and yarn and knit away. However, at the same time it is also time consuming in that it is taking away from my Blogging time.

Pumpkin Patch Visit

Today we made the annual trek to the Pumpkin Patch down the street from our house. Now this Pumpkin Patch is special in that we don't actually get Pumpkins from there, rather it is just the place for the kids to go and ride the rides. Each year the kids watch them put up this Pumpkin Patch on the corner of the street. As soon as the makeshift fencing goes up the kids get excited and wait in anticipation of the final product. And every morning on the way to school and the way home from school they talk about the Pumpkin Patch and how they are going to do all of the rides.
This morning the first words out of Cody's mouth when he woke up was "Is it Pumpkin Patch day??". Jeremy & I made the promise to take them after their naps so they would be well rested for the adventure's ahead. After nap time, we headed to the Pumpkin Patch where the kids each did all of the rides once, and even some twice. There was a giant inflatable slide, swings, some twirly ride, and Taylor's favorite the trampoline.

The Horse Races

Yesterday morning my mom called and said something that I haven't heard in a long time...Let's go to Santa Anita!!! Of course, that sounded like a wonderful idea since it is has been so long since I have been there. But the horse races are always fun so so I knew it would be a great day. The kids had so much fun watching the horses. My most favorite moment of the day had to be in the 2nd race when Cody's horse won and he told everybody, yes even complete strangers, that his horse had won the race. Cody's eyes lit up and it was a genuine excitement that will forever be etched in my memory.

Long Time, No Blog

Wow!! I can't believe I let this much time pass once again since my last Blog. If you were to ask me where the last 23 days went and what I have been up to my response would be....I have no idea!!! These last few weeks have just flown by and I'm sure I can account for some of the time, but not 24 hours for each of the last 23 days...552 hours worth...where did it all go? Time is just passing by before my very eyes and there is no way to stop time, trust me I tried. But the good news is that I have a plan to make sure that I keep on Blogging at relatively decent intervals of time and with this new plan should come the new and improved Blog...and if not well that's ok too, after all this Blog is called One Busy Mommy and that alone gives me reason to slack every once in a while. It's getting late though...I'm super tired and headed to bed. Tomorrow though I promise to fill you in on what I have been up to the last 552 hours of my life.
