Date Night -- Miniature Golfing

Tonight's "Date Night" with Ama & Papa was miniature golfing. I think this rates high on Taylor's list of favorite date nights because she asks for it practically every single Friday night. This time though Taylor got an added bonus, she got to the bumper boats ad boy did she love that. After the bumper boats Taylor and Cody played some golf and some arcade games.
Next week Taylor said she wants to skip "Date Night" so she can come home and watch Camp Rock instead, we will see though for some reason I think she will change her mind. She hasn't missed a date night in a long time.

This picture says it all.....Taylor had a BLAST on the boats

Taylor is officially a graduate

Last night my little princess graduated preschool and is now officially headed for...{gasp}....Kindergarten!!!!!

It was a wonderful graduation ceremony with some pretty funny highlights. The second I saw Taylor walk into the room though the tears began to flow. She looked beautiful and so grown up in her cap and gown. They performed some songs they had learned throughout the year and then each child walked up to get their diploma.

Of course the night couldn't go without some laughter though, and leave it to Taylor to provide plenty of that for us. Along with the program we were provided with a list of all the kids in her class and some questions they had answered this week. Here are Taylor's answers.

What do you want to be when you grow up....A Super Star
Who is your hero....Hannah Montana, because I want to be just like her
What do you like to play with....The Little People

Also each child in the class received an award, based on the last year and how they are in school. There was a Ms. Manners, Teacher's Helper, Most Excited to Learn New Things, you get the idea. Hmmm..I thought what type of award would Taylor earn for Pre-K.

Well, she got....Future Movie Star! HA!! Why is part of me not at all surprised.

Some pics from the night. I'm bummed because it was dark in their so the pictures opportunities were not the best. Pictures or not though, it's a night I will remember forever.

Critical Thinking -- Done

Woo-hoo another class done towards my degree. Last night I finished Critical Thinking and today starts my next class...Statistics. Eek!! I have heard bad stories about statistics. Wish me luck, I have two classes in a row of this which means 10 weeks.

Graduation advice from Taylor

This morning on the way to drop the kids off at school Taylor informed me of two very important things regarding her graduation tonight.

First, "Mommy you need to make sure that my hair is down so it doesn't get in the way of my cap"

Second, "Mommy make sure you put a dress on before my gown so I don't go up on stage naked under my gown"

The worries of a 5 year old.

How many cards does it take to fill your tank?

Gas prices are really getting out of control, well actually this post is a few weeks late for that statement. Gas prices are no longer out of control they are ridiculous. I have been watching the prices for the past months and saw them rising but it wasn't until last night that I realized how ridiculous it really is. Here goes my story.

Last night I went to Costco to get some gas, at 8:30 at night it is usually pretty empty there but not last night. It was extremely crowded. I waited for the 6 people in front of me to get gas and I pulled up to the pump behind a big raised super cute truck. If the guy in front of me knew I called his truck cute he might not be happy, but I digress.
So we both begin to pump gas into our vehicles. Mine stopped at around $65.00 not too bad, but I wasn't all the way on empty. The guy in front of me though kept pumping, he must have been closer to empty than I was. Next thing I know it clicks off, whew I could tell the look of relief on his face. He then looked at the pump and realized it shut off because it hit the max transaction, $99, not because the tank was full. He had to pull out another card to finish filling his tank! When it takes a person two cards to fill their gas tank I think that is the point where it hits ridiculous!!!

Movies @ The Cemetery

Sounds creepy right, well it is!! Tonight I'm doing a kind-of first. I'm going to a scary movie screening at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. I call it a kind-of first because last year I took Taylor and we saw Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. That was fun because the movie was not scary. I'm a big chicken so this should be interesting. Carole, I'm only doing this for you. :-) Together though we wont let the evil vampires get us.
Honestly though the atmosphere is pretty cool and the experience is unlike any other. If you live in Los Angeles or will be visiting I highly suggest a visit there. Just don't go by yourself take people that will protect you.

Boys and their boo-boos

Every time I turn around Cody has a new bump, bruise, scrape, or something. Yesterday he fell off the slide at school and gave himself a fat lip and scraped up his chin really bad right underneath his lower lip. My little man is going to give me grey hairs before I turn 30. I wish I could put him in a bubble so he wouldn't get hurt anymore. Until then I guess I just have to deal with and accept that he is just a good old boy enjoying life.

Date Night -- Take me out to the ball game

My dad and mom took the kids to a Jethawks game tonight, per Taylor's request for their weekly "Date Night". Of course they had to get all decked out in their baseball gear with new gloves, hats, and baseballs. They had a great time at the game and I'm sure we will be going back again before this season is over.

Beauty Sleep

Taylor and Cody both love jumping into our bed in the morning after I get up to take a shower and get ready for work. It's the sweetest thing the way they cuddle up next to eachother. I could sit there and watch them sleep peacefully for hours and hours.

About that relaxing weekend

A few days ago I said how I was looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend with no plans. Well it didn't turn out that way completely in that we ended up painting. But we were still at home and painting is actually very relaxing to me, which I didn't know until this weekend. Although we didn't sit around and do nothing for two days straight we didn't spend the entire weekend running around doing errands so that was nice. Now it's the start of another week of work so I better head off to bed and get some sleep.

Any bets on how long?

It is going to take us to paint our whole house using this brush.

Yes, I'm serious, Jeremy was actually using this brush to work on the top of the wall where it meeets the ceiling to make sure that no colored paint goes into the white.

Funnel Cake Fun

Tonight the kids made some funnel cakes. Well Taylor did, Cody just made a giant donut stick. He didn't quite understand the whole idea of moving the batter around in swirls. They turned out yummy though and the kids had fun, so at the end of the day that is what matters most.

Funnel Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
1 egg

2/3 cup milk

2 tbsp. sugar

1 1/4 cup flour

1/4 tsp. salt

1 tsp. baking powder

Directions:
1. Beat egg and milk. Mix all other ingredients and slowly add to the egg mixture, beating until smooth.
2. Using a funnel, drop into hot oil working from center outwards. Remove from the oil when golden brown and crispy.
3. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
